Eric

Eric Hornibrook is his name. Yes, that is, indeed, his real name. I laughed too. I laughed REALLY hard, you know I did.
Anywho, Eric is one of my friends in the ward, and he asked me to go with him to a dinner night at our bishop's house.
This is us on the way there!

After a fabulous home cooked meal, we headed back to my apartment to play games. We chose 'Cranium'. It was Eric and myself, the yellow team, against Breezy and Sean (her date for the same dinner and our friend), the green team!

The game begins. Breezy and Sean got all the luck their first two turns, going on the fast track and landing on the first purple brain, all before Eric and I were able to move more than once- we got stuck on the slow track, and missed a few questions. After this rough start however, Eric and I put our game faces on and started to take the lead with a club cranium humdinger- I hummed "Brick House", and after a few repeats and some awesome dance moves he was able to guess the tune before our enemies did. It was a tight race the rest of the match, with the lead constantly shifting. It was IN"TENSE. Suddenly, at the third purple brain, the one before the big brain (you cranium players know what I'm talking about), Sean and Breezy pulled ahead! Like way ahead! How did that happen??? I don't like losing. I was determined not to lose. With some providential club craniums, Eric and I joined Breezy and Sean in the big brain. It was late, nearing curfew, team yellow's turn (my team). So we decided that the first team to get their question right would win, only the opposite team got to look at the next card in each box and decide which one to throw at us. Team green chose wrong. Way wrong. They went for the red, the datahead. Typically the hardest, especially the ones where you simply have to know the answer. This is, of course, is the card they gave us. The question: "What was the first National Park in the United States?" Breezy didn't finish the question before I jumped up and screamed "YELLOWSTONE!!!! Thank you Teddy Roosevelt and History 221 last semester!!! We win! WE WIN! I LO0VVVE WINNING!!!" Eric, I'm sure, thought I was insane. (He hasn't seen my family, he has no idea) After I finished jumping around, I sit back in my chair, and with a little too much oomph, leaned back in my chair, arms held high, and repeated "I love winnnnnnn...ahhhh!!!", suddenly my legs kicking furiously ABOVE my head, in the AIR! And then CRASH, BOOM, BANG. I'm sprawled on the floor, tangled with my chair, in hysterics. Laughing so hard. The ones where there's silence for about 30 seconds until you gasp for a breath and resume the silent laugh. Everyone is laughing. In shock that they really just saw something like that happen. Eric, the nice boy he is, tried to help me up, but Breezy, between guffaws, says, "just leave her. she's laughing. too hard. she can't. move. yet." This is true. And after a few more minutes of the best abs workout you'll never get out of sit-ups, crunches, or planks, I was able to stand, upright my chair, and sit back down. Sean and Eric left soon after. But not before we got on a short "moulin rouge" kick and sang the infamous "Elephant Love Song"....during which, Eric stood up and dramatically pranced around the apartment while singing "We can be heroes! Forever and ever!"....another set of laughter ensued. After this, Sean and Eric did in fact, get out of our apartment. WHAT A NIGHT!!! I know I already acted this scene out for those of in attendance at the Stolworthy din din Sunday, but I wanted to let everyone else have a good laugh. :)
And, because this post is titled "Eric", here is Eric playing the drums at our ward talent show the following night. He is SO COOL!...Sorry if you can't really hear what he's saying........

Draper Temple Open House

Last Wednesday, Breezy, Lynette, and I headed north to go see the Draper Temple. Before we left Prove we stopped at J-Dawgs. YUM! Seriously, if you haven't been there, GO! I finally went for the first time last Saturday with Mark, and I am addicted! Infact, I think I'll stop by there this afternoon.... Anyway, we got to Draper and filed into the chapel a few miles south of the temple to watch a short video and board a bus (we got the green bus!). While we were waiting for our bus (which took FOREVER because it was really windy, and supposedly the buses were struggling getting up the hill), in walks our friend Nicole and her fiance! They are such a cute a couple. Their wedding is at the end of April! Also, sitting behind us was our bishop and his wife. I didn't get a picture of them, sorry. But, it was fun to walk through the beautiful temple with everyone.
We couldn't get a picture with us outside the temple because we were either in a tent tunnel, bus, or chapel. So,the only pictures I have of the actual temple are taken from the moving bus. And we tried to get a good "roommates shot" at the end where we get delicious cookies, but the girl we recruited had a very unsteady hand. Oh well. :)

the missing piece

Discomfort. argh... This is so AnNoying. grrr....
These were my thoughts for the first two months of my college experience whenever I sat on my bed or the floor to read or study. You see, in August I purchased this wonderful pillow. I was so excited to really use it when I got up to Provo. However, when it came time to leave Henderson in a CAR (just one) with Ashley, her friend, Daniel, and myself, there was no room for it. I tearfully (not really, I have issues with crying, it rarely happens, if ever) left it on my bed and bid adieu to my family and Henderson, knowing that Keith and Keri's wedding was in two months and I could just grab it then. October 25th approached, and as excited as I was about the wedding, I was very much looking forward to having my glorious PINK pillow back. My two months of patient suffering were futile. I get home, after getting stranded in Cedar City for like 4 hours, and my pillow is nowhere to be found. WHAT!?!?!?! So, the next morning I asked my mom where my pillow went, and she replies "Oh. That was yours? I was wondering where it came from. It was just sitting on your bed, and I had never seen it before....so I gave it D.I." WHAT!?!?!?! As you can you imagine, I was SUPER SAD. And, because there was no time, and mostly because I am a POOR college student, I didn't buy another one. And because I am POORER than I was in October, I've yet to purchase a replacement. :) but.....life is good. Really good! :) And someone out there got a STEAL of a DEAL on a brand new pillow. Lucky, lucky them.
Now that I've procrastinated for another good 20 minutes, I guess I'll start researching for those papers...

Ward Talent Show

What a night!
My ward is great! See why:
Our HILARIOUS bishop!
This is his impression of a rain-drop: (the sign that his wife is holding says "make thunder noise".)

My dancing queen roommate:

(she took 2nd place for her individual events at a big clogging competition this weekend!AND her PRO-team took 1st!)
There are a lot more reasons why I love my ward, and I have more video from the talent night... but I'm having serious trouble staying awake....it's only 8:45 :/ Maybe if I go to sleep RIGHT NOW...I can still get a full eight hours sleep and wake up super early....hmm.

Lip Service

Yesterday, my sister Ashley posted an OLD family picture on good ol' facebook. In it, I am doing something strange with my mouth/lips/eyes/whole face. She made the comment that I've made such faces my whole life. Wanting to further investigate this comment, I looked through all of pictures I had on my computer...and this is what I found...

...looks like she was right. And, I'm sure there are A LOT more pictures, but these are the only ones that I have access to right now. haha.
P.S. I have other events that I will be blogging about in the very near future. Be excited.
A presto!

Courage

Wow, it's been almost two months since I've put something on here. Reason: I don't have a camera, so I don't have pictures and what good is a blog without pictures? At least that's how I see it. But I've decided to get over that preference and just make do without them.
HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!! Wow, 2009. I hope the way I celebrated the ringing in of another year is not an indication of what 2009 will be like for me. I sat on the couch reading a book and fell asleep well before midnight. My mother however was kind enough to wake up me five minutes before so I could celebrate with the rest of the western United States. I have always been quite the party animal, I know. ha! Turns out that my roommate, whom I love and adore, said that she was asleep by 9. So....yah....you see one of many reasons why we get along so fantastically!
With a new year comes new goals, as always. Also, the realization of all those others goals that were not accomplished the previous year. As I sat pondering all things that I planned to do but didn't get around to it, or didn't finish, or gave up trying, etc during the year 2008 the thought came to me that I've been living my life in fear. Fear of not succeeding, fear of what others might think of me, fear, fear, fear. Therefore, my "2009 resolution" is to have courage. And along with having courage, having faith. In relief society today, the lesson was exactly what I needed. The night before when I started my fast, I prayed that I might have courage this new year to be the best I can be, and today's RS lesson was a confirmation for me that I had finally prayed for the right thing. In short, it was about not being afraid to take those first steps, and "inflating others" as you go. I know that's a horrible summary, but I don't want to go into detail because I wouldn't be able to clearly express all of my ideas and emotions. Just know that I will be doing a lot of things differently from here on out, and I am oh so excited to see the changes that will come to my life by being courageous. I feel like some of the choices I have made were made in an attempt to avoid conflict, challenges, or anything that might have given me a small problem. Now I can see that by doing so I've robbed myself the opportunity to learn and grow, to rise to a better version of myself. I know that the Lord gives us trials so that we can become better, and I feel like I've done a pretty good job of making sure I wouldn't be pushed too hard, especially this last semester. I guess you could say I've been trying to take the easy way out. Sure, I got through my first semester of college intact, but that's all I can say for myself. I want to be able to say that not only did I merely survive, but that I rose above...and eventually beyond as well.
Okay, now that I've lost a few, or all, of you in my mayhem of thoughts, I will bid you adieu. ( to you, and you, and you) :)
