A gift (or two) for Ashley.

Here Ash! I finally did it...it only took me two weeks (or has it been three? sowwy). As part of my birthday celebrations, I headed north to the spend the weekend with family. Saturday afternoon was Megan's baby shower (see link on the Young Family blog on the right), and then hair time at Andrea's. And then after that it was GIRL'S NIGHT with Ashley, Amy, Tabitha, and ME! We went to "Lil'Vicky's" for Tab, and so Ashley could get mo' lip gloss. :) Then we went to the Old Spaghetti Factory. Ashley is currently working there, and so when the "Happy Birthday" serenaders came out to sing, it was like the whole staff! pretty funny. I was too busy laughing to get a picture of them all. I had never been to the Spaghetti Factory before, I don't get out much. But wow! It is one of my favorite restaurants now. SO YUMMY! And, I've never been sung to at a restaurant for my birthday (at least not that I can remember). So, that was a fun experience by itself. But my weekend just got better and better!

After dinner, we went to Ashley's house for a movie and mani/pedi time. My feet thanked me.
Sunday morning we slept in really late, then Tab and I went to church with Ashley. But not before I showed Chelsea (Chelsey? Ashley's roommate) a trick for peeling a hard-boiled egg. If you tap the whole shell with a spoon, and then use the spoon to peel the shell off, you'll save like 10 minutes. Chelsea is a lot of fun, I'm glad she's my sister's roommate (housemate?) (and I'm sure Tara is too, I just never really talked with her while I was there). After Church we stopped at this awesome chapel by Ashley's house. Ash said it was one of the first chapels built in the Salt Lake valley. The grounds are sooo pretty!!!! We walked through it really quick because it was windy and getting cold fast.

And then we went to the Draper Temple Dedication broadcast at her Stake Center.
It was a lovely weekend. Thanks Ashley, ti amo molto! Oh, for my birthday Ashley got me a bunch of hair ties ( a girl is always in need of them), a sweet purple hair band (I've worn it many times already, I love it!) and some awesome purple, cheetah/leopard print tights! ow ow!

One of the best parts about this weekend was that my brother Keith let me drive his truck! He and Keri were in Henderson, and he let me have the keys to his ranger so I could get to where I needed to go (I ran a 5K race Saturday morning, then went north for the shower).
Keith, THANK YOU SO MUCH! It was so so so sosososososoooo wonderful to have a vehicle for a few days. Seriously, wow. Being able to go anywhere I wanted, without walking there, was fabulous. words can not fully express my joy and appreciation. :) And I may have used the truck more than just going to the race and then SL...

one more note: if this post is lacking in my normal sense of humor and cheerfulness, it's because that coldsore that I posted about...well it is a FIGHTER. Talk about sending in reinforcements. Tuesday was 'kinda' bad, Wednesday was good- the swelling was down, it looked like the end was in sight. Wednesday night however, right before I zonked out, I could feel the tingly on my lip again. Seriously, I was in bed, found my comfy position for the night, and then the tingle came. "ugghhhh, I just want to sleep" i thought to myself. So, that's what I did. And when I woke up in the morning, I had the characteristic 3 dots on my lip. The dots multiplied throughout the day. The swelling increased. By Thursday night, the "dotting" expanded it's territory and moved beyond my upper lip, reaching toward my nose. This morning, conditions have not improved. damn it. (that's my second gift for Ashley, hahaha) You can't see the actual cold sore very well, but you can sure tell my lip is SWOLLEN. pity me, please. :(
